Come fishing in Arnhem Land
Nhulunbuy, Gove Peninsula Fishing Charters
Our Aim
We aim to provide everyone a fun, sustainable and safe fishing experience. We have a deep respect for the people, land, and culture of East Arnhem where we live and operate. Our commitment is to pass on this to our guests and the appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural heritage of this extraordinary place.
The Founders
Shaun, holds a variety of roles as skipper, deckhand, tour guide, maintenance manager, and the heart of our storytelling, bringing the history and future of Arnhem Land alive for our guests. While he expertly navigates the waters with skill and soul, he provides our guests with insights into the mining history, current developments in Arnhem Land, and the future of Gove—tapping into the valuable gap of limited information available to better educate our guests. Jess, is the backbone of our operations, balancing her full-time job with managing the intricate details of bookkeeping, advertising, and customer relations. Together, we embody the spirit of OBJ Adventures, ensuring that every excursion is more than a trip—it's a journey into the heart of Arnhem Land.
How we started
Our journey began two years ago when we (Shaun, AKA Obi One, and Jess) decided to transform our connection to the land and seas into a vessel for others to experience its magic. Owning and operating an adventure and fishing charter in God’s country is a culmination of a dream deeply rooted in our many years of living in Nhulunbuy and wanting to share our love for the pristine wilderness.
We’re more than a business. We’re a beacon for adventurers, thrill-seekers and nature lovers seeking to discover the untamed beauty of Northern Australia.
Our Commitment
Local and Environmental Engagement
We're not just about tours; we're about making a difference. From beach clean-ups to educational programs with local schools, we are deeply involved in preserving the natural beauty and health of our local ecosystem.
Involvement in Local Community
Our commitment to the community shines through our roles in the Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club. Shaun, as Project Officer and Vice President, works to keep the public boat ramp safe and efficient for everyone. Jess, as Treasurer, is driving the club's administrative improvements, including a new website and database. Additionally, as Vice Chairman of Tourism East Arnhem, Jess is dedicated to promoting the region and ensuring tourism in Arnhem Land thrives sustainably.
